Pneumatic Kraftformer Eckold KF 170 PD

Pneumatic Kraftformer Eckold KF 170 PD

Eckold KF 170 PD is the smallest yet highly powerful stationary forming machine (Kraftformer) with a pneumatic drive from Eckold. The letters PD stand for Pneumatic Drive. It is designed for the cold deformation of sheet metal and profiles, capable of processing materials up to 2.0 mm thick (steel). Its distinguishing feature is the presence of two operating modes: single and continuous stroke.

  • Purpose: High-precision forming, correction, and fitting of curved surfaces, as well as additional operations (notching, clinching).

  • Field of Application: Body repair, aerospace, restoration, prototype production, and unique metal structures.

  • Class: Compact yet powerful stationary Kraftformer.

Advantages and Features

  • Two Operating Modes:

    • Continuous Stroke: For fast and comfortable forming of large areas and creating general curvature.

    • Single Stroke: Ideal for precise correction work, fitting, as well as clinching, punching, and notching operations.

  • High Productivity: Thanks to the pneumatic drive, the machine provides a high stroke frequency—up to 250 strokes/min, significantly accelerating the forming process.

  • Increased Working Space: Compared to smaller models, the KF 170 PD has a generous horizontal reach of 170 mm and a vertical height of 146 mm, allowing for the processing of larger components.

  • Precision Adjustment:

    • Stroke Length Adjustment: The stroke can be set between 2–6 mm in increments of 0.05 mm for extremely sensitive control of the forming process.

    • Ram Position Adjustment: Allows for setting the starting position of the upper ram to compensate for different tool heights and save setup time.

  • Power: A significant ram force of up to 60 kN allows for confident work with thick sheets and stainless steel.

Standard Equipment

  • KF 170 PD Machine: Main cast frame with integrated pneumatic drive.

  • Floor Stand: Robust stand, often equipped with wheels for mobility and height adjustment.

  • Control System: Interface for switching between single/continuous stroke modes and adjusting pneumatic parameters.

  • Foot Pedal: For convenient control of the forming process, freeing the operator's hands.

  • Quick-Change Tool System: Fastening system for rapid transitions between different functions (shrinking, stretching, clinching).

Options

  • Tool Sets:

    • HSR/HFL: Specialized tools for shrinking and stretching U-shaped profiles.

    • Clinching Sets: For joining metal sheets without welding.

    • Punching/Notching Tools: For precision hole and slot creation.

    • Planishing/Doming Dies: Used for surface smoothing and polishing after forming.

  • Specialized "No-Marr" Tools: Inserts with synthetic overlays for working with delicate materials (e.g., polished aluminum) without surface damage.

  • Additional Stops and Guides: For serial production and ensuring repeatability.
