Hornung RS 500 roll shears are specially designed for cutting thin-walled metal tubes, such as chimney flues, ventilation ducts, downpipes, etc.
The RS500 model is a complete specialized design, not a converted trimming machine. Its construction ensures the high rigidity and cutting precision necessary for processing thin-walled products.
Typical applications include:
Cutting out defective welded tube sections.
Trimming tubes to the required length (manufacturing connecting or mounting sections).
Preparing short tube sections before a subsequent operation, such as end flaring (expanding).
The advantage of cut sections compared to those previously welded to the required length is not only the reduction in manufacturing time but also a significantly lower risk of crack formation during subsequent tube end expansion.
Precision-ground Cutters (Blades): Made of high-alloy tool steel, ensuring a clean cut and long service life.
Bearing Supports with Preloaded Tapered Roller Bearings: Guarantees high rigidity and a stable gap during cutting.
Backlash-free Hinge Support of the Upper Shaft: Ensures a constant gap between the cutters even during long-term operation.
Hydraulic Advance of the Upper Cutter: For quick and convenient operator work.
Direct Force Transfer: Direct force transmission from the hydraulic cylinder directly to the upper cutter prevents shaft deflection and gap changes during cutting.
Backgauge with Measuring Scale: Allows for quick setting of the cutting length.
Driving Rollers on the Backgauge: Facilitate tube manipulation and feeding.
Quickly Adjustable Cutter Overlap: Minimizes tube deformation during the cutting process.
Precise Cutter Gap Adjustment System with Dial Indicator: Ensures reproducibility of settings without complicated manual adjustments.
Chromed Lower Cantilever Arm: Prevents ferrite particles from welding onto stainless steel (Inox) tubes.
Suitable for Pallet Jack Transport: Easy movement around the workshop floor.
Optional: Stepless speed control via a Variable Frequency Drive (VFD).
