Universal Forming Machine MultiFormer Eckold MF 500

Universal Forming Machine MultiFormer Eckold MF 500

Eckold MultiFormer MF 500 (“Multiformer”) is an exceptionally versatile and compact machine designed for the cold processing of sheet metal. This equipment is often referred to as a “three-in-one machine” because its single C-frame allows for the rapid mounting of modules to perform three core operations: Wheeling (English Wheel), Planishing, and Shrinking/Stretching.

  • Purpose: Universal forming of small and medium sheet metal parts with complex curvatures.

  • Field of Application: Classic car restoration, custom fabrication (e.g., motorcycle tanks, fenders), artistic metalwork, and technical educational institutions.

  • Key Advantage: Space-saving and accessibility thanks to its modularity and manual control.

Modularity and Configurations

The foundation of the MF 500 is a robust C-frame with a generous working space. Depending on the installed module, the machine can take on three primary configurations:

Configuration Function Main Tooling
MF 500 EW Wheeling (English Wheel) Set of upper and lower rolls of various radii.
MF 500 GL 2 Planishing (Smoothing) Pneumatic planishing hammer GL 2 and corresponding anvils.
MF 500 MAX Wheeling + Shrinking/Stretching EW module + Manual Handformer HF 100 for shrinking/stretching.

Key Module Features:

  • Wheeling: Used for producing large, smooth curved surfaces by rolling the metal between the upper and lower rolls.

  • Planishing: Utilizes high-frequency impacts from the pneumatic hammer to eliminate imperfections and smooth the surface after rotary stretching or manual forming.

  • Shrinking/Stretching: Allows for shrinking or stretching the edges of sheet metal to create internal or external curves using the integrated HF 100 tool.

Design and Operation Features

  • Quick Tool Change: The modular design allows for easy and rapid reconfiguration of the machine for different tasks (e.g., switching from wheeling to planishing).

  • Ergonomics: Thoughtful design for comfortable operation by both right- and left-handed users.

  • Minimal Space Requirement: By combining several functions into one C-frame, the MF 500 is an excellent solution for small workshops.

  • Pressure Adjustment: Pressure of the rolls or tools is adjusted via a handwheel and a quick-action clamp.

  • Additional Equipment: Integration of other Eckold tools, such as the manual Handformer HF 100 or the GL 2 pneumatic hammer, is seamless.
